About Me

Mayor Talib is an HBCU ambassador and hip-hop artist based in the Carolinas. Born in Durham and raised in Charlotte, Mayor Talib was always surrounded by HBCU graduates, HBCU culture, and a burgeoning North Carolina hip-hop scene. His love for creating music started during his senior year in high school. A spontaneous song writing session with friends motivated Mayor Talib to use music as his primary creative outlet.

In 2017, Mayor Talib made his debut by releasing his first album "Catfish Are Delicious". The 11-track project served as his formal introduction to the music industry and showcased his versatility as an artist.

In 2019, Mayor Talib partnered with HBCU Gameday and released “Any Given Saturday”. “Any Given Saturday” served as the theme song to the inaugural HBCU Gameday "No Huddle" show on Aspire TV and the “Any Given Saturday” music video featured Benedict College's Marching Band of Distinction. The song garnered media coverage from The Charlotte Post's Sports Charlotte podcast, and Qcitymetro.com.

Music Videos

I have always wanted to have a marching band in one of my music videos. HBCU Gameday helped make that happen. This video was filmed at Charles A. Johnson Stadium and features the Benedict College Marching Band of Distinction. It was directed by HBCU Gameday's  Wali Pitt.

Mayor Talib partnered with BOOM Charlotte to perform new music live from his living room. Talib shared songs from his upcoming Flat Pillow Poet album and chatted with viewers about his creative process.

The first single released off the Catfish Are Delicious album. I started filming this video at 5 a.m. at my local Bojangles with my DJI Mavic Pro. Happy I didn't get arrested.
